Effortless Summer Beauty Products

I make it no secret that I have grown quite lazy when it comes to my beauty routine in the summer. It's hot, I'm sweaty, and I just don't want to feel a whole lot of products on my skin. I'm all about minimalist beauty in the summer.
I skip foundation all together in the summer, and instead focus on moisturizing and protecting my skin. I always start off with a clean face, and a nice layer of my Origins GinZing Energy-Boosting Moisturizer. The light citrus scent is so yummy, and the light creamy texture hydrates my skin without being too heavy. Protecting my skin from the sun is also very important. Every single day I apply a thin layer of sunscreen to my skin. I received a sample of the Tarte Tarteguard 30 Sunscreen Lotion in a Sephora Play! box last month, and I have been loving it. The light floral scent and non-stick formula make this a real star. It's perfect for days on the go when you will be exposed to the sun a bit. I would probably use a thicker and more heavy duty sunscreen if I was going to the beach or spending a full day outside.

I have sparse eyebrows, so filling in my brows is a must. I've been using the Anastasia Brow Definer in the shade Soft Brown for months now, and it is honestly the best pencil I have ever used. It makes shaping and defining my brows wicked easy, and gives a natural look. I lock everything in with the Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel in the shade 3-Medium. This shade is universally flattering, and doesn't clash with my red hair and medium brown brows. The fibers in the gel give my sparse brows a bit of a lift, and help to really fill in areas to make them look more natural.

I finish everything off with a quick curling or my lashes and a coat or two of mascara. I am still loving the COVERGIRL The Super Sizer Waterproof Mascara. The waterproof formula doesn't smudge with my oily skin or flake. It also is perfect for impromptu swimming sessions or trips to the beach.

Let me know in a comment below which products you reach for during the summer to achieve your effortless look!

Nail of the Day: China Glaze in Evening Seduction

Yes, I know. It's summer, and that typically means bright and fun colors. In my defense, I purchased this polish last week at Sally Beauty, and I just had to test it out. I don't know where my love for dark vampy polishes came from, but this queen of darkness will not apologize. Apparently, June = Dark Polish!

This polish is what vampy dreams are made of. China Glaze's Evening Seduction is a deep cream plum shade that borders on almost being black. The application was an absolute dream, and I technically only needed one coat to make this completely opaque. I could not believe how smooth this glided on. Oh! I'm in love!

Review: One Love Organics The Cleansing Sponge

I've been interested in skincare for awhile now, and I am always willing to try new brands and products. Konjac sponges have been popular is Asia for quite some time. They are made of konjac plant fibers, and are known for being eco friendly and naturally sustainable. What's not to love! I've used konjac sponges in the past, and love the results. I recently purchased a sponge from the One Love Organics brand during a recent splurge session on the Birchbox website. You can read all about it here
I purchased the bamboo charcoal version of the Cleansing Sponge, because charcoal is said to draw out impurities and benefit oily skin. My skin isn't acting up right now, but I like to be a bit proactive so that I can prevent future breakouts or clogged pores.
Dry Sponge
I've been using the sponge for about a week now, and I can already see a difference in my skin. It is smooth like a babies bottom, my dry patches are almost nonexistent, my skin has started to look healthier. Like, so healthy that I can get away with only wearing a bit of concealer instead of a heavy foundation routine. My skin feels so clean after I use the sponge, and I can definitely tell that it gets rid of any left over makeup I have after I clean my face with a face wipe.
Wet Sponge
This sponge is one of the best konjac sponges I have used. It works very well, is made of simple ingredients, and has really helped my oily skin. I can easily see this becoming a part of my daily routine for a long time.

The Cleansing Sponge retails for $10, and can be purchased here.
